About

Hi there.  Thanks for stumbling on my page and staying a minute.  This page was created because I have a passion for all things about money and personal finance. The Man in my life thought it would be a great avenue to share my knowledge with even more of “My Girlfriends” since I spend so much time on the phone talking to them about it. I hope you find it interesting and informative. I know it might be a stretch to say fun, but I would like you to find handling your money to be an enjoyable task and not such a chore any longer.

My main passion in life is God.  Through Him all things have been possible in my life. Even during some ugly, dark days of my life that I look back on, God was there showing me the way out.  Most of the time, when I was younger and more naïve, I wasn’t listening, but He never gave up hence, the amazing blessings in my life.

I am incredibly passionate about The Man in my life. We have been together almost 2 decades and it has been an incredible ride so far.  We aren’t any where we thought we would be, but I am convinced this is where we are meant to be.  It has not always been easy being married to a Soldier (yes, I am capitalizing it because I can) or him for that matter.  The funny thing is, I wouldn’t change a thing.  He is the calming force to my storm.  And those of you that know me personally know this is so true.  He is the sensible to my impulsiveness.  He is the father to my children.

Incidentally, that is another passion in my life.  We have 4 of them.  One is a grown, incredibly beautiful, smart, resourceful, all-around nice woman.  The other 3 are our Littles.  We had them when the oldest was a teenager.  We told God we were ready for that blessing and he obliged.  I homeschool these amazingly smart, well-mannered children.  That is my full-time job.  When school is open I don’t answer calls (barring emergencies of course) or check mail or FB.  I figured if God felt I was worthy of these Littles then the least I could do is show Him and them the respect they deserve.  That said, I am not a helicopter or permissive parent.  They are able to make mistakes on their own, fall and get hurt too.  What they aren’t allowed to be is disrespectful to people.  They are allowed and encouraged to think of others.  They tithe a portion of their allowance every week for a worthy charity that they get to pick.  (okay, they usually have to save a few weeks to get a reasonable amount of cash)  So while they are all these wonderful things they are also infuriating.  A Girlfriend of mine reminded me about  the part in the Ya-Ya Sisterhood  movie where Ashley Judd’s character takes off to a hotel for a couple of nights and it was just what she needed.  Yeah, sometimes I need that too.

As I mentioned earlier, this blog was founded on my passion for all things money and personal finance.  I am particularly passionate about helping My Girlfriends, which is encompasses all persons of the female persuasion.  My reason can be found in all the statistics about women and money….how they outlive their spouses, how they are treated by financial advisors, and their overall lack of confidence in their ability.  You ARE smarter than you think.  And it is my mission in life to help you believe that and act on your new-found knowledge.

So you are probably wondering “Why should I take advice from you?  What do you bring to the table?”  I am glad you are thinking that way, because you should always, always question the person giving you financial advice, tidbits, whatever.  This is the single most important factor you need to remember.  NO ONE cares about your money as much as you do.  Remember it.  Live it.

I do come with some credentials    I am an Accredited Financial Counselor through AFCPE (The Association for Financial Counseling, Planning & Education). I have been accredited since 2009.  Years prior, I was a registered representative for a financial services company and held a Series 6 & 63 license to sell mutual funds.  I also held a life insurance license.  I was an independent contractor for said company so I maintained a staff and an office.

One of my favorite credentials is that I have been a serial entrepreneur.  After my foray into the financial services industry, which I LOVED, I was a successful direct salesperson for an international company.  I then purchased a direct mail marketing franchise and ran that successfully too.

I have worked for a subcontractor in the financial counseling arena whose main clientele are service members and their families.  This has been by far my most rewarding work.

On a completely separate note, I want to give a loud shout-out to my fabulous graphic designer at www.byAimee.com because website designing and anything creative is NOT my thing.

Enjoy your visit and come back often!

Feel free to shoot me a note
